Munya Mataruse on Tuku”s 60th Birthday

20 September 2012

I would like to wish my mentor, Superstar Oliver Tuku Mtukudzi a happy 60th birthday.   You have    matured like wine and I am very delighted to having been a product of such a music giant like you.

You have been like a father to me and indeed you continue to bring inspiration to us as your products.  With your vast  experience in the music industry, you have  been our teacher, our guardian and we are working hard to reach your levels.

Proudly I can say that to us you are now like our answering machine, in our arts industry we face a lot of difficulties but of all the challenges we face you always bring solutions to them. Solutions that probably you once used in  your spanning carrier of more than three decades.

One thing that you have taught me, is discipline and I wish to assure you that me as one of your products will not let you down. I am humbled by your love and care, you have made us feel at home. I extended my gratitude to you for building a home for us, Pakare Paye Arts Centre, a place where i cut my teeth in the music industry.

Pakare Paye Centre has natured a lot of other young musicians who are now holding their own. Thank you. On behalf of Kazevezeve and myself i do wish that  the Lord grant you many years and continue the wonderful works that you are doing for all the younger generation of artists.

Turning 60 is not a joke, let your story continue being an inspiration to us in our work as musicians. It is never an easy road as you continuously advice us we will strive our best to make the best out of you.

It would not be fair if I fail to recognise and mention our mother, Daisy Mtukudzi who has been your pillar for all these years. She has taken me as her child, the values and advice she continues giving us is our source of inspiration and motivation. May the Lord bless your family.

Getting a few lessons from the Superstar
Munya and Kazevezeve is part of Tuku@60 celebrations tomorrow at Glamis Arena, Harare, I promise to give my best as we celebrate the life of a music legend, father and teacher.  On Sunday the 23rd of September we will continue with the celebrations at Pakare Paye, and performances from Kazevezeve, Donald Kanyuchi, Chikwata 263, Tsvete and Aggabu Nyabinde will spice Tuku@60 celebrations.

I wish you many more years of producing music and giving us direction in our work as young musicians.
